Dakota State University is seeking an enthusiastic individual to embark on their career journey as our Science Lab Manager. This 9-month position is responsible for managing the science labs and preparing lab materials for biology, chemistry, physics, and/or geography labs.
Responsibilities:
Prepare lab materials for biology, chemistry, physics, and/or geography labs.
Administer, train, and supervise student lab assistants.
Prepare instructional materials and assist with grading and student support.
Oversee the acquisition and stocking of teaching-related chemicals, lab supplies, equipment, and manuals.
Facilitate lab safety and organize laboratory waste disposals.
Supervise use and routine maintenance of teaching-related equipment and facilities.
Teach science lab sections as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in natural or physical science or science-related field.
Experience working in a laboratory setting.
Familiarity with safety protocols and operational procedures.
Strong organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to lift at least 10lbs.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in natural or physical science or science-related field.
Experience supervising student employees, teaching assistant, or interns.
Experience coordinating educational or outreach activities.
Prior teaching or instructional experience in a lab setting.
